GENERAL APPLICATION
A number of general utilitites are available for calculation of section properties etc. The general applications are categorized as follows:
GENERAL UTILITIES
The following general utilities are available:
With PROSEC, any arbitrary shape with or without openings can be drawn on the screen and its section properties calculated. All common properties required for engineering calculations are determined, eg area, centroid and moments of inertia. Torsional properties, including shear centre, torsional constant, torsional warping constant and torsional section modulus can also be calculated. Output is in graphical format and tabular format. |
The WIND module is used for the calculation of the free stream velocity pressure qz according to either CP3-1972 or SABS0160-1989 or. Building height, height above sea level, regional wind speed, terrain category, class and return period can be input. Output is in graphical format.
|
GUTTER is a design tool for gutters and down pipes used for drainage of building roofs. Storm characteristics, eg return period, 2 minute M5 rainfall and duration, as well as gutter and down pipe geometry can be input. A variety of outlet types can be specified. Output is in graphical format and includes all relevant drainage flow statistics.

TIMBER MEMBER DESIGN
The timber member design module, TIMSEC, automatically reads the output from the last Plane Frame Analysis. The combined effects of axial forces and bi-axial bending moments are considered to designs of timber frame and truss members.
The user has full control over design parameters and positioning of lateral supports. Sections are automatically selected from the database of standard timber sections, which can be edited by the user
